JUST IN TIME JUST ENOUGH

Architecture is developed using the Just-in-time and Just-enough principle.
“Just in time” indicates that the various component architectures will be defined only when, in support of the business objectives, there is a necessity. That requires that the architects be well informed of the developments that the business is striving for and when the important decisions are being made.
“Just enough” indicates that exactly enough architecture is developed when necessary for the achievement of the business objectives and no more. This applies to both the scope and the detail. “Just enough” also implies that the allocation of architectural resources varies with the dynamics and frequency of the business objectives being pursued: more demand for architecture means more architects, less demand means fewer architects.
