ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGES

The first step in defining an architecture is to clarify what organizational changes are planned. This requires a strategic dialogue. Not only because this is the only way the architects maintain a connection to the business objectives, but also to identify new possibilities from within the architecture.
The strategic dialogue can take on several forms. If there is already a periodic evaluation of the short term business objectives using annual plans, in a planning and control cycle for instance, it is important that the architects be involved. There will also be new ideas created in the interim. It is equally important to have a timely involvement in such an ad hoc creation. The most effective way to realize that involvement is nurture a good working relationship with the responsible business parties.
